These are some of my favorite feel-good movies to chill out and watch for the afternoon.
The main criteria? Will this movie make you smile? Yes? To the list!
They’re all funny and endearing, but what really puts them on this list is the storylines. They’re more than just run-of-the-mill good-time movies.

1. Must Love Dogs
Sweet, predictable, funny. Diane Lane and John Cusack are charmers.
2. Chocolat
One of my all time favorites. I really love stories that take place in the real world, but have just a touch of magic to them.
3. My Name Is Khan
A bollywood classic, made for international audiences. Dramatic, a bit cheesy, but heartwarming af.
4. Ten Inch Hero
The early 2000s are all over this movie. It’s small cast and story reside primarily within the walls of a sandwich shop in a seaside town.
5. The Goonies
A classic, pure and simple. Goonies never say die.
6. Midnight in Paris
An enchanting story that hops between modern day and the roaring 20s.
7. It’s Complicated
A comedy of errors between a divorced couple and the whirlwind their relationship creates.
8. No Strings Attached
Feel-good funny. I’m always surprised how much I laugh with this one.
9. Bridesmaids
Absurd slap stick and awkward moments, with a happy ending, of course.
10. Love Actually
The stories of several people all intertwined into one holiday movie, that really doesn’t need to be saved just for the holidays.
11. How to Train Your Dragon 1 & 2
Excellent animated movies, not just for kids.
12. Paul
Fromt the hilarious duo that brought you movies like World’s End and The Fuzz, the story of Paul, an Alien, is raunchy humor without getting irritating.
13. Forrest Gump
Another classic. A story that spans decades and brings you through history with heart and humor.
14. About Time
Incredibly funny and sweet, and at times, bittersweet. This is not your ordinary love story.
15. A Lot Like Love
Oh the hair in this movie. The hair. We follow a pair of friends as they move through life, never quite finding the right moment to be more than friends… or so it might seem.
16. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty
Ben Stiller is a wonderful actor and this takes a turn away from some of his more normal schtick into a story filled with humor and meaning.
17. The Internship
When you put these two together, you know it’s gonna be a good time. Plus it’s pretty fun to see a couple characters who don’t quite get technology trying to make it in the most technical place on the planet.
18. Intouchables (English Subtitled)
They recently made a new version of this movie with Kevin Hart. I’m still partial to this one. Maybe it’s the French accents.
19. The Holiday
Two women swap their radically different lives to get away from their deteroriating relationships and find happiness in new surroundings.
20. Howl’s Moving Castle
Even if you’re not a big Anime person, Howl’s Moving Castle is just fascinating story-telling.
